National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC)
National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC) was set up on 24th January 1997 as a "Company not for profit" under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956, as an Apex Institution for all round socio-economic upliftment of the Safai Karamcharis/Scavengers and their dependents and to extend concessional financial assistance to the beneficiaries for establishment of income generating projects. NSKFDC provides loans to the Safai Karamcharis and their dependents through the State Channelising Agencies.
NSKFDC is also providing educational loan to the student of the target group for higher education in the technical/professional courses. Under Skill Development programme, NSKFDC provide 100% grant for imparting training in different technical trades.
Target group
- The target groups of the Corporation are Scavengers which means persons wholly or partially employed for manual handling of human excreta and their dependents and Safai Karamcharis which means persons engaged in or employed for any sanitation work and their dependents.
- No income limit is fixed for availing financial assistance. However the Corporation accords priority to the economic development and rehabilitation of Scavengers, and amongst Scavengers, those whose income is below double the poverty line; women from among the target group and Disabled persons among the target group.

PERFORMANCE
Out of the total authorized share capital of Rs. 300.00 crores, the Central Government had paid up Rs. 259.99 crores till 31st December 2009. The authorized share capital of the corporation is proposed to be increased. The performance of the Corporation during the last six years is as follows:
