Sub: Constitution of a Committee to review of the National Policy on Older Persons, 1999.
In view the changing needs of Senior Citizens in the country and as decided in the meeting of the National Council of Older Persons, the Government of India have under consideration the proposal to review the National Policy of Older Persons (NPOP) which was announced in year 1999. Accordingly, it has been decided to constitute a Committee to review the NPOP. The Review Committee is hereby constituted as follows:-
i) Smt. Mohini Giri, Chairperson
ii) Sh. M.M. Sabharwal, Member
iii) Sh. K.R. Gangadharan, Member
iv) Dr. (Ms.) Shielu Sreenivasan, Member
v) Representatives of the following Central Ministries, not below the Rank of Joint Secretary;
1. M/o Health & Family Welfare, Member
2. M/o Rural Development, Member
3. M/o Finance, Member
4. M/o Home Affairs, Member
5. M/o Women & Child Development, Member
vi) Secretaries in charge of Welfare of Senior Citizens of five States- one from each region (Northern Region, Southern Region, Eastern Region, Western-Central Region, NE Region), being nominated separately. Members
vii) Joint Secretary (SD), M/o Social Justice & Empowerment. Member Secretary.
